Carer Visa (Subclass 116 and 836) allows individuals to live in Australia permanently to care or provide assistance to their relative with a long-term medical condition. The applicant’s relative must not be able to get the care they need from any other relative or from nursing, hospital, and welfare communities in Australia.
You are considered a relative if you are a partner, child, brother, sister, stepchild, step-parent, stepbrother, stepsister, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or step equivalent.
Carer Visa (subclass 116) is applied if the applicant is living outside of Australia at the time of visa lodgement and at the time their visa is granted.
Carer Visa (subclass 836) is applied if the applicant is living in Australia at the time of visa lodgement and at the time their visa is granted.
